The Japanese Classic Medium Bag from MM6 Maison Margiela revisits the house’s defining accessory through a supple leather-effect construction. Introduced for Autumn-Winter 2009, the Japanese Bag takes its distinctive triangular form from the principles of origami, using geometric folds to create a fluid, adaptable silhouette. A tubular top handle anchors the oversized profile, while the signature horizontal white stitch line at the back provides a discreet MM6 signature.
The open-top construction reveals a spacious single compartment, while concealed press-studs within the folds allow the shape to adapt. The handle is finished with an embossed logo, introducing subtle branding to the otherwise minimal surface. A cotton lining completes the interior, while calf leather contrast detailing and copper hardware add structure to the polyurethane body.
