The Black Sands 2023 Chardonnay by Patrick Sullivan is a still white wine shaped by site and restraint. The silhouette is poised and precise, balancing generosity with freshness while allowing place to lead the expression.
Sourced from the Heywood Vineyard in western Victoria, planted in 1990 on rare black volcanic sand and white limestone, the wine is hand-harvested and fermented in barrique, with partial new oak and full malolactic fermentation. Extended lees ageing builds quiet depth and texture, while the cool climate preserves tension and clarity. The profile remains composed, mineral, and finely layered.
Patrick Sullivan’s work is grounded in biodynamic farming and site transparency, producing wines that prioritise landscape, balance, and long-term integrity.
