Third generation

Missoni was established in 1953 by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni. Today, the third generation of the Missoni family, Margherita Maccapani Missoni, is the Creative Director and front person of the family business. Her creative mind has expanded Missoni with new aesthetics and an innovative foundation – yet with a respect for the brand’s history and DNA. Due to the family’s history and experience within the fashion business, Margherita has always had the glamorous world close to life. From a very young age, she followed the design process from drawing office to seamstresses, and some of the first memories of which she can memorize, are huge fashion shows that she followed closely from the crowd as well as backstage.

Sustainability and social responsibility

When Margherita became the Creative Director of Missoni, she interpreted the brand to make it fit into our modern world. A world, where sustainability, environment and social responsibility are more important than ever. Today, Missoni are among the front runners when it comes to sustainable initiatives, and the brand constantly strives to minimize the carbon emission, environmental impact, energy consumption and waste of resources. It also means that Missoni are committed to eliminating the use and release of hazardous chemicals in production processes to keep our planet safe for generations to come.
